Tom Dixon Wins the 2019 London Design Medal

LDF 2019

London Design Festival has awarded Tom Dixon with the 2019 London Design Medal. The award is the highest accolade bestowed upon an individual who has distinguished themselves within the industry and demonstrated consistent design excellence.

Tom says, ‘I’m still confused as to why I won’t be getting the ‘Emerging Design Medal’, as it still feels very much like I have only just started – I’ve so much left to design! But I’m very touched to be noticed by this super jury, thank you very much.’

For London Design Festival, starting on Saturday 14th September, Tom Dixon will host TouchySmellyFeelyNoisyTasty at his King’s Cross hub. The Coal Office will become a multi-sensory lab with a series of talks, workshops, parties and events taking place in the Shop, Factory, Restaurant and Gallery. For the entire duration of LDF, The Coal Office will be an open house, with a full event schedule accessible to the public.

With so much to see, hear, touch, smell and taste, we want to encourage visitors to experience a journey through the senses at the Coal Office. Using our TouchySmellyFeelyNoisyTasty map, guests can navigate their way from Reception to the Factory to the Arches of the Shop, visiting each of our exhibitions and marking them off. Upon completion of the game, guests will receive a limited-edition Tom Dixon tote bag (limited allocation per day, first-come, first-served basis).

New collections: The latest Tom Dixon designs and innovations - Fat, Swirl, Spring and Opal and our two new fragrances, Alchemy and Underground - will be available to buy at our flagship shop.
