The serene shapes of the Ihana trace out a silhouette of light. This lighting system consists of several opal blown glass diffusers that are pleasing to the eye, appear ductile and contrast with the firmness of the metal structure that determines its shape and fastens it to the ceiling. In an effort to offer ambient light for any classic or contemporary interior design project, this collection can be used to create light compositions. This is made possible by its structure, which can be extended to include 14 diffusers, connected to a single point of light. It is available in different sizes to illuminate spaces with high ceilings as well. In addition, the Ihana features dim to warm technology, which allows not only regulating the intensity of the light, but also its colour temperature, which can vary from a warm white (3000K) to an ultra warm white, simulating candle light (1800K).

Be it interiors, products or services, the agency’s philosophy is to create beautiful, long lasting and meaningful design that drives from sustainable values and understanding of human behavior. Studio Joanna Laajisto is a Helsinki based boutique design agency, founded in 2010. We work in the fields of commercial interiors such as hospitality, retail and workplace design as well as product and concept design. Joanna Laajisto, the founder of the Studio, is an interior architect and designer who has studied and made her career in the West Coast of United States. Prior to moving back to her native country Finland, she worked in Los Angeles at an international architect firm Gensler, designing large scale commercial projects. In addition to her BA degree in interior architecture, she is also a LEED accredited designer, making her an expert in environmental and energy efficient design. In September 2018 Joanna Laajisto was designated Interior Architect of the year by The Finnish Association of Interior Architects. In addition to designing custom furniture and fixtures for her interior projects, she also designs products and furniture for the consumer market. Bobo sofa and lounge chair for Hakola as well as a line of rugs for Finnish brand Roots were launched at Helsinki Design Week in September 2019. The latest addition is Kaski lounge chair for Made by Choice released in December 2020. At Studio Joanna Laajisto we believe that a well designed project is the best form of sustainability and that outstanding results are created together with clients who share our passion for quality and beauty. Our design process is based on thorough understanding of our client’s needs and the purpose of the interior – our designs are always crafted from the end-user’s point of view.
