Vico Magistretti Was born in Milan, 1920, where in 1945 graduated at the Polytechnics. In spite of his main activity is the one in the architectonic and urbanistic field, he established himself as eminent designer also in the industrial design, lighting, furniture and inner furniture sectors. The leader firms for which he has projected and the publications of his works on the specific magazines cannot be counted. One of the first Italian designers to use the plastic elements for his realisations, he has been accumulating career awards and honours since the fifties: The Gold Medal at the IX Triennial in Milan in 1951, The Compasso d'Oro in 1967 for the "Eclisse" lamp and in 1979 for the "Apollo" lamp and "Moralunga" armchair, the Compasso d'Oro for the career in 1985. He has been executive member of the jury at the XII Triennial in Milan.
