Project by Graham architecture. Pictures from: @aaronleitz

Much more than a place to eat, a home’s dining area is where friends and family gather for special meals and moments. Lighting plays a key role in creating the right ambience, as seen in the range of rooms below. Sophisticated and striking, these fixtures instantly elevate any dining space.

At a Graham Architecture-designed residence in Laguna Beach, California, a pair of elegant Flamingo pendants by Antoni Arola illuminate the dining table.

Amid rich wood paneling, natural materials, and views of lush greenery and the sea, the lamps recall birds hovering overhead—perfectly in keeping with the space’s organic, Zen-like feel. Flamingo’s deconstructed design lends a calm, quiet presence while producing diffuse gradations of LED light.

For an apartment in Lithuania, Redeco.lt carved out a compact dining area in the open kitchen.

Suspended from a slender rod above the round table and chairs is the LED-powered North fixture by Arik Levy. Its spare, geometric silhouette casts a focused pool of light downwards, drawing attention to the small eating spot, while its matte black finish echoes the graphic colour scheme of the surrounding space.

For a dramatic double-height living space in Braga, Portugal, Trama Architects selected Arik Levy’s Wireflow chandelier to illuminate the dining area.

Airy and open, Wireflow’s delicate, three-dimensional design fits seamlessly within the lofty room anchored by a statement-making, circular staircase. Crafted of slender black cables and fitted with LED terminals, it forms a compelling focal point over the dining table yet doesn’t compete with the sweeping architecture.
